Had a Body Composition Analysis test and RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) test done today at Dexafit in Dallas and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Overall body fat measured at 8.1%.
Measured RMR was 1737 calories per day at rest. As a part of the overall RMR test, RER (Respiratory Exchange Ratio) was measured. Typical range is between .7 and 1. An RER near .7 indicates that fat is the predominant fuel source whereas a value of 1.0 is indicative of carbohydrates being the predominant fule source. My “score” was .76; my body was burning sugars at 19% and fat at 81%. A score of higher than .85 is the tipping point for burning more sugar than fat and a greater risk for blood-sugar related health issues.
I wanted to take the VO2 Max test on a treadmill but was informed weeks ago that Dexafit has stopped administering this particular test until the COVID pandemic is over.
